Selecting the Wedding Songs

I know this seem like such a small detail to a wedding, but believe of not I've been collecting songs for my "dream wedding" since a long long time (possibly way before I got together with the mister). Song ranging from slow to fast, cute to rock. Well, let's just say that I like listening to such songs even before bothering about them.

So here's my playlist on youtube, it'll be ever growing till i figure the song I want!

Also, just the other day, I found this picture pinned on pinterest and thought it was really cute! Some of the songs are already in my playlist whereas some are so old I never even heard of them. But nonetheless, it's a good chance to just listen to good song anyway! :D

There's more to come and songs to listen to. But meanwhile, just enjoy the music.

Love.

Selecting for Photography Studio: Pre-Wedding

Well, here comes one of the more interesting thing about getting married - the pre wedding photoshoots.

The newest in-trend is to have your photos taken oversea, to have a different touch to it. It'll be like traveling and having someone to take the photo for you all at the same time. Recently, It's quite rare to even have your photos taken in Singapore. And just like any other couple, the mister and I are looking to do ours overseas as well.

Next, where?

I guess US is out because flying there would already cost a bomb let alone a photo shoot there. Asia or Europe? We are looking at the places we love - and kind of know relatively well. England, Scotland or France. We are leaning towards Islay, Scotland. Why? Unique and scenic.

Then, I was considering - so when? Definitely not winter unless I want to freeze to death in the cold! So I guess it's June since we do not have much of a choice when it comes to which months we get to leave the country. June falls in the summer season in Scotland. I'm going to also take the chance to holiday again in England and Paris.

Since 2015 is still a tad far ahead, we are taking these preps slow. :)

Nibblets: Love.

Thought I would share a lovely quote by Thomas Merton, made famous by Criminal Minds. I decided to see the quote in totality and amazingly, it is probably more meaningful than just the isolated first two lines found in the show.

Love is our true destiny.
We do not find the meaning of life by ourselves alone— we find it with another.
We do not discover the secret of our lives
by mere study and calculation in our own isolated meditations.
The meaning of our life is a secret that is to be revealed to us in love, by the one we love.
We will never be fully real until we let ourselves fall in love….
Love is the revelation of our deepest personal meaning, value and identity.
Thomas Merton

Merton himself was a priest that actually fell in love with a nurse whilst he was hospitalized, though he ultimately stayed through to his vows and had to give up the relationship.

I love this quote. Of all the quotes in the world on love, I think this holds arguably one of the deepest meanings I have seen in a while. In this quote, love is not seen as a noble thing, it is not seen as something given and taken, it's qualities are not expounded. It simply states that the state of love is something that completes the human condition, it makes us fully human, so to speak. And because of that, because love is so powerful that is completes the human condition, it is through this completion that our deepest selves come forth, and life finds its true and complete meaning. Love is not about simply giving, it is about selflessly being the one that completes another.

As we continue on this journey, the strength of this quote seems to stick with me more. Maybe it would lose its relevance to me, or its impact to me, someday, but for now, it is the creed that I adopt as we move together towards a life together.

Thank you for saying yes.

Selecting the Colour Scheme

I love france and the french language. The mister loves UK and anything english.

I'm toying with the idea of having Royal Red and Blue for the colour themes but it's all in the preliminary stage where I'm tossing colours around to play with different combinations.I thought that since the countries we both love have the colours red and blue, it'll be a fun combination to play with.

Then again, there's another combination I did thought of - Green and Red.

It's going to be a december wedding and what happens in december? - CHRISTMAS!
I'm not as keen as I am into royal red and blue but since it's a long way to go, we've got plenty of time to think and consider which ones we do prefer.

The Incomplete List of Things to Do

Every wedding has a list. well, i honestly don't know what comes before and after so I've started this blog to get myself moving to find out even the slightest details of the things to do before the big day. It's not soon, but it's worth the time to start planning ahead.

All in all, I'm truly committing the planning and marriage into the hands of God. Without Him, there will never be anything, any of this. It is in His perfect love that we imperfect people get together and work together towards a life worthy of Him and Him alone. Many might doubt or wonder how we are going to work these details out - kids, house, church, religion etc. We can say what we think now, but many years down the road, I'm going to rely on God to lead the way and guide us along as we grow closer to Him.

Like any other girl, I've always had a dream wedding and wishes of how it would look like, but now that it comes down to even thinking of planning, it's scary. Plus, the reality of being engaged hasn't even sink in at the very moment right now.

This blog will be a record of thoughts, ideas and fancy fun(i guess?).
